Nightmare Sonata was first conceived at an underground Goth night in October of 2004. I was sitting outside smoking a clove and chatting about music with by best friend, Benjamin Samedi. Ben had some ideas for a new project...as did I. But they were somewhat opposite. Ben has always been more into metal and punk...and is not a purist by any stretch of the imagination. I, on the other hand, being somewhat elitist and quite purist, was interested in doing a gothic/industrial/dark wave project. I needed something to do though...I was bored shitless of sitting around playing keyboards in my room. After the first practice though, we knew was had something. Ben played a few tunes for me and I tore into them with the keyboards...and it sounded completely different. I played something and Ben tore into it with the guitar...and it sounded completely different. Next thing we knew, we had this weird mix that we knew couple take gothic rock to the next evolutionary level. We've been playing this way ever since.
